Created by Madame Alice in 1937, the premises were taken over in 1953 by the jazz pianist Stan Brenders, who turned it into a jazz temple.

In 1985 it was sold to Nathalie and Jean-Louis Hennart who made it the starting point of the renaissance of the Dansaert quarter. Its interior was decorated in purest Art Deco style by the architect F. Van Ruyskenvelde. Pierre Bourgeois was entrusted with the renovation work in 1985. The dark wood panelling, the thick velvet fabric on the chairs, the elegant chrome details and indirect lighting create a refined atmosphere which is particularly pleasant when the blue notes of the grand piano, the bar’s focal point, sound out. Wall seats and chairs with clean lines welcome regulars on the ground floor or the mezzanine. The rosewood bar serves very refined beer, wine and cocktails. L’Archiduc is a unique bar which carries on the pleasant tradition of concerts and shows.
