A grey day in Brussels. And yet we were really excited to shoot Leon Bridges, the new rising star of American Soul. His first album “Coming Home” is a success with the general public and music critics alike on both sides of the Atlantic.
While we had already imagined the 26 year-old young man singing his soul songs in the Art Nouveau decor of a cafe in the capital city, we ended up filming him in the Ancienne Belgique … Because, yes, sometimes a heavy agenda combined with the accumulated fatigue of big tours prevent artists from being completely available …
After having toured the Ancienne Belgique three times to find the “ideal” spot, we decided to settle in the corridor in front of the big stage. It is within these tagged walls that Leon Bridges landed. Amiable and elegant, smiling shyly, he sang “This Little Light of Mine,” a beautiful traditional gospel song.
He then continued with “Better Man”, the single from his debut album. Only one take was enough for him to impress us… Because, yes, sometimes it’s in between the four walls of a cold corridor that magic happens …
